02/06/22 Fine Arts February: Week 1

Today Ellise Lee led a very successful drawing workshop to kick off our Fine Arts February. We started with our question of the week: If you could be in the Winter Olympics what sport would you play? Then we warmed up by drawing mini self-portraits without lifting your pencil. We then worked with some shading techniques like hatching and cross-hatching, playing with where the light hits a given object. Next, we worked on finding "simple shapes" in more complicated pictures. Finally, we combined all 3 techniques and created shaded self-portraits that we built with simple shapes. This workshop was so much fun and a great way to start the month!
