Immersion in Art Summer Camp: Day 3

07/21/2021

Elise kicked off the third day of our camp by doing introductions and asking the question "if you could play one instrument really well what instrument would it be?" Answers included ukulele, harp, guitar, and flute. She then started the class by introducing three rules to make sure everyone was comfortable. She then led some warm-ups that included breathing exercises, lime, yawn, and lemon faces, animal noises, sirens, and lounge twisters. Next, we practiced singing with different emotions using the song "How Far I'll Go" from the movie Moana. We then looked at different voices (head voice vs. chest voice) and their ranges. Some of the artists we looked at were Ariana Grande, Adele, Jackson Five, and Harry Styles. For the performance aspect of the class that was filmed for the parents, the students learned to sing "Do You Want to Build A Snowman?" from the movie Frozen. The students were divided up into groups so that some sections of the song were sung all together and some were done in small groups. The very last activity was a fun song guessing game. Students could request songs and the rest of the students would try to guess a song. Such a fun way to end the workshop! All the kids loved it and were so brave for unmuting and singing!
